Anastasia Root 2.8

An incredibly generic bottom-shelf bourbon, Buckhorn offers nothing special. It smells of vanilla, caramel, oak, corn, and just a hint of mint. There's also an odd artificial sweet note, somewhat similar to Jack Daniel's but less intense. The ethanol is also noticeable in the aroma. While not an unpleasant scent, it is surprisingly weak and not very exciting. On the palate, corn is dominant with vanilla and oak flavors, accompanied by a pleasant brown sugar flair. The mid-palate is surprisingly herbal but lacks depth. It has a medium-light spice at the finish. If it had a bit more intensity, I would be more satisfied. Considering budget bourbons, this isn't terrible and can serve as a good, mindless daily sipper. If you're not a fan of Evan Williams' extreme sweetness, this is a decent budget alternative and is significantly better than Jack.

Mathias Chong 3.0

There's not much to say about this one as it's rather weak in all aspects. The nose is misleading because it doesn't lead to much, the initial taste is pleasant for about 2 seconds, then it vanishes and gives way to a very short, mildly spicy finish. It's not bad, just not great.

Twila Coy 3.5

A Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Louisville, crafted with corn, rye, and barley. It begins with woody notes of oak and spice. Its mid-palate is rich with fruit, caramel, and vanilla, culminating in a full and spicy finish. Tasted February 2019 and bottled August 2022.

Reagan West 3.5

So smooth. Slightly sweet, with subtle oak notes, punches above its weight. A great value for everyday drinking.

Vicente Moseley 2.5

Sweet aroma. A little caramel/maple. Pleasant taste. Light and very smooth. Lacks any real depth or character.

Leonel Burgess 3.8

Smoother than I expected. Definitely worth trying again. I only bought the mini bottle.
