This naturally colored, sweet spirit was a truly delightful drink. Made with organic barley and aged for eight years, the distillery has succeeded in crafting this intricate whisky. I must confess, it took a while to pinpoint the exact flavors, but they gradually emerged. Upon pouring, the aroma of honey is apparent and persists onto the palate, accompanied by a hint of salt and spice. The ending fades quickly, unfortunately, but it's enough to entice another taste. All in all, a respectable and pleasing bottle from Islay. NOSE: Raisins, ice wine, honeycomb, wood, green apples, powdered sugar, apricot. PALATE: Honey, sweet cream, cloves, spices, fresh wood. FINISH: Sea salt, salted caramel, barley, malt, charred wood. Rating: 84/100. Grade: B. Pleasant - not essential, but a nice addition.

Bruichladdich's 2010 release utilizes solely organic barley from Mid Coul Farm, situated east of Inverness in northern Scotland. The barley, harvested in 2009, was distilled the subsequent year with water from Islay springs. It was aged for eight years in American oak casks previously used for bourbon. This whisky is presented without chill-filtration or added color, bottled at 50% ABV.

Color: light, pale golden straw. Nose: The initial impression is buttery. With some time, a creamy lemon bar note emerges, along with melon, vanilla, and very subtle sweet oak. Palate: The buttery creaminess from the nose immediately translates to a buttery mouthfeel with vanilla, slight lemon, and a hint of pepper at the end. The medium finish invites another sip. For me, this dram highlights the grain, with the oak aging playing a supporting role. I can taste the quality of the ingredients, and the overall experience is not disappointing. I would rate this an 87-88 out of 100.
Incredibly rich, yet it feels light and invigorating. Notes of vanilla and lemon cream, with barley sugars and hay. A balance of sweet and salty. Exceptionally complex, engaging, and well worth the cost, even more so.
The nose is soft and woody with underlying fruit notes. The flavor is sharp and full-bodied, with some spice, raisin, and oak. It leaves a pleasant, lingering spice on the finish.
