About this bottle

Victor, Chris, and Bryson Yarbrough, brothers who founded Brough Brothers, intend to build a distillery in Louisville, Kentucky's West End neighborhood, their hometown. This facility would be the state's first African-American owned distillery. The brand's initial offering is a contract-distilled whiskey from Indiana, made with a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. It is available in Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as via Amazon in the UK, with further state availability planned.

I discovered this gem in the 2020 bourbon advent calendar. I enjoy hearing about new distilleries launching; best wishes to the three brothers! As soon as I smelled it, I was reminded of scotch. I'm not a fan of scotch; I dislike peat. However, for some reason, this gives me a scotch-like impression. It might serve as an excellent introduction for scotch enthusiasts to the world of bourbon. Keep in mind that I'm still new to this hobby myself, so what do I really know?:-) I also detected creamy vanilla in the aroma. I find the palate to be soft and spicy, and I taste malt even though it only makes up 4% of the mash bill. The finish was light and simple, coating the tongue. It's not a high proof spirit; again... I believe this is a fantastic introductory drink for individuals exploring the realm of whiskey.

Rich barrel notes, smooth vanilla, and a faint smell of caramel. Intense smoke hits you immediately, reminiscent of peaty scotch. Medicinal flavors with strong cinnamon heat and a lingering finish, though the cinnamon flavor isn't overpowering. A long finish and a solid bourbon. An intriguing sipper.

Aged for six months and sourced from MGP (as it's distilled in Indiana). The 82 proof offers a remarkably smooth mouthfeel, making it a great recommendation for bourbon newcomers. The distillery plans to open in Louisville soon with a new batch.

Absolutely outstanding. I have been searching extensively for this particular product. These individuals have truly excelled with this creation. Wonderful flavor. It goes down remarkably smoothly. I have certainly become a devoted customer for life. Continue the excellent work!

It's smooth, but the spice can dominate the initial taste. I don't detect any bright notes, rather something earthy and mineral-like. Given a high corn content, I'd expect it to be sweeter. After a few sips, the spice becomes more mellow.

Hubert Castro 2.5

Tasting neat: The aroma offers little, just some sweet corn and mild wood spice. The palate is thin, featuring more sugared corn and cinnamon spice. The finish is pleasant and soft, with traces of oak and vanilla.
