Bondstone High Rye Kentucky Straight Bourbon

A distinctive bourbon that stands apart from others. The aromas command attention, but not in an unpleasant way. Many earthy notes are present, along with hints of potent clove, freshly ground allspice, butter, new paint, and strong alcohol. Herbal scents emerge later, with fresh tarragon, oregano, mint, and aromatic licorice. The flavor is initially spicy, then mellows, revealing immediate tastes of smoke, oak, pepper, and medicinal qualities. I wish the intensity lingered longer, but there's a touch of caramel and menthol. It provides a tingling sensation in the mouth and a good finish. This would be a fine bourbon to enjoy with companions.

This High Rye Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, produced by IJW Whiskey in Kentucky, is aged for at least 4 years in new charred American white oak barrels and bottled at 45% ABV. It begins with an aromatic profile of grain, wood, dried fruits & spices; its bold character develops with notes of rye, oak, vanilla, cinnamon & honey; concluding with a medium-length grassy finish accompanied by notes of cornbread. Exceeded my expectations. It has a scent of vanilla, char, mild rye, and dried fruits. The taste is spicy, featuring vanilla, berries, and rye. The finish is also spicy.

Pleasant, smooth, with no harshness. Easy to drink and not complicated.
