About this bottle

This yearly release from Michter's Legacy Series, Bomberger's Declaration, commemorates Bomberger's Distillery, established in Pennsylvania in the 1800s and later recognized as Michter's. Each iteration varies. The 2024 release incorporates malted rye into the bourbon recipe and utilizes Chinquapin oak for maturation, with staves air-dried for three years before toasting and charring to Michter's specifications. Bottled at 108 proof, this edition was set for release in July 2024 and is available in limited quantities. (SRP $120)

Ward Lawrence 3.8

Appearance: Medium amber. Smell: Caramel and vanilla joined by a nutty almond essence. Taste: Cinnamon, baking spice, oak. Aftertaste: Lingering and quite warm. Added drop: No new notes emerge. Verdict: 7.5/10 - I've had this bottle for some time without reviewing it. The age and strength are clear, but for what it costs, it doesn't quite impress as much as I'd hoped.

Brennan March 4.8

Aroma - grassy rye, aged oak with vanilla. Berries with a hint of marshmallow. Very pleasant Taste - Intense oak presence with a touch of rye and berries. Not much else beyond that massive oaky character. Awesome Overall - very good. Especially if you appreciate a significant oak presence. 4.70

Maryjane Woo 4.8

Likely among the finest bourbons I have encountered. Smooth, full-bodied, not excessively hot, and for me, it possesses a delightful subtle cherry essence throughout the taste. It's not like artificial cherry flavoring but rather a perfect understated note. If you see it, do yourself a favor and purchase a bottle!

Luke Castaneda 3.5

Price is actually a 4 flight. Oak flavor with a hint of vanilla & caramel. Lingering oak finish with a touch of sweetness. Pairs wonderfully with dried bananas!

Silas Richards 4.5

The aroma presents bright citrus and floral notes with a whisper of baked apple. The flavors are quite complex with the ideal amount of warmth.

Dina Horvath 4.5

Fantastic flavor with a slight kick. Great feel in the mouth. Would be a 5 if it were a little smoother.
