About this bottle

Ben Milam Distillery is situated in Blanco, Texas. The distillery, which commenced operations in 2017, was founded by Marsha Milam, a descendant of the namesake, to honor his legacy and produce quality bourbon. Ben Milam was a participant and leader in the Texas Revolution, fighting and dying for its independence. This single barrel bourbon was distilled in Tennessee and subsequently bottled and aged in Texas, with supplementary aging occurring in Kentucky.

Cherry Nagle 4.0

A light caramel aroma on the nose. The mouthfeel was exceptionally sweet, similar to a scotch. The only flavors discernible are syrup and powdered sugar. The finish shifts between cinnamon and cherry. That cherry note is delightful. This has the taste of breakfast.

Ezra Houser 3.0

I was mistaken about this bourbon's origin, believing it to be from Texas. The fact that it's labeled as Texas bourbon but actually produced in Tennessee is misleading, in my opinion. Nevertheless, it's quite smooth, sweet, and a typical bourbon.

Tyler Holloway 4.3

A faint caramel aroma on the nose. The taste offered a pleasant sweetness on the palate. I detected notes of caramel and powdered sugar. The finish had mild cinnamon and cherry. A very gentle pour but a delicious, easy-drinking spirit.

Freya Radford 3.0

Good taste, but that's all. No finish. No middle. It's present and then it vanishes. Leaves much to be desired. I suppose if you're looking for a smooth dram with no bite and no finish, this is for you.

Helen Brantley 3.5

A fairly standard bourbon. It's clearly sourced, though the label doesn't make that obvious enough. I'm anticipating more genuine or distinctive offerings from this company.

George Knapp 3.5

Smooth, with minimal sharpness. Slightly sweet, exhibiting the typical bourbon characteristics of vanilla and some oakiness. Not particularly unique, but a delightful and easily drinkable spirit.
