I received a small sample of this 1974 Beam's Choice from a friend. It was from an intact decanter like the one shown. I was quite eager to try a whiskey distilled in my birth year. I'm somewhat surprised it has remained preserved this long in a ceramic decanter with a screw-on plastic cap. How does it taste? It smells and tastes like typical Beam, with peanut funk and corn, but it's light with no harshness, feeling almost silky on the palate, and the medium finish is very enjoyable. I'd say time has been kind to this spirit.
