Kurt Powell 2.8

Nose: Smells sulphurous when opening the bottle and pouring, similar to Famous Grouse and some other inexpensive blends. Palate: Smoke/Tobacco Ash, Velvet smooth vanilla, Peach. Finish: Oak + ethanol astringency, as expected for a 3-year-old blended whisky. It's similar to Ballantine's, but slightly toned down on the palate and finish, lacking the interesting salted caramel or toffee note this time. It's acceptable for a supermarket blend, smelling and tasting less unusual than Famous Grouse, but Ballantine's is still your best choice for a cheap, smoky blend when it's on offer for £15.
