About this bottle
Amrut, based in Bangalore, offers this distinctive malt, showcasing a departure from the constraints of the Scotch Whisky Association's rules. The spirit, distilled in India from Indian barley, matures initially for several years under the intense Indian sun before being transported to an undisclosed European location for an additional three years of aging. The extreme temperatures in Bangalore cause significant expansion and contraction of the barrel, a process known as "barrel breathing," which accelerates maturation. The cooler European climate is said to more closely resemble Scotland's, though it could be any location on the continent. It is bottled at 46% ABV.
