Absolutely incredible. A superb combination of a Sherry bomb, smoke, and barbecue. It brings to mind some older Islay whiskies I've sampled that were finished in Sherry casks. Cheers to my 40th birthday! This 10-year (equivalent to 30 years in Scotland, according to the producer) sherry-matured peated whiskey is exactly what I enjoy in a drink. Nose: faint peat smoke, baking spices, orange zest, and abundant sherry. Let it rest for a bit, or the alcohol content will overwhelm your senses. Palate: significant oak influence from the bourbon and new oak cask finishing. Moderate to low peat. Very little burn for a 60% ABV. Tastes of figs, spice, honey, and vanilla. Just a trace of the distinctive Indian spice/cardamom notes I appreciate in whiskies from this producer. Finish: satisfyingly long. Dry, smoky, and spicy, leaving a tingling sensation on the tongue. Well done, producer. I eagerly anticipate the next release when I turn 41!
