Caleb Tobin 2.0

Nose: Imagine a bit of old stewed fruit at the bottom of an old biscuit tin; you're probably close. Palate: Peppery marzipan, bitter and dry chocolate, malt biscuit. Somewhat bland and uninspired. Finish: Short. Pepper and clove. I usually associate 78 degrees with gin, not whisky, so I was pleased to have the opportunity to explore something from a new region. However, it was a disappointment. I found very little in this pour that didn't require significant effort to detect. A grainy mouthfeel and a slightly acrid acetone note made the entire liquid feel unrefined and low quality; quite off-putting. My overall impression is a resounding 'meh'. Whisky taste #72.
