I acquired this bottle for my Christmas wassail, so the brandy's quality wasn't a major concern. However, curiosity got the better of me: what flavors can be found in a $10 bottle of brandy? The aroma seems appropriate, heavy with sweet, dried fruit notes. The taste is far less pleasing, dominated by sharp vanilla. The finish is even worse, with a wet mop and sour fruit taste that lingers stubbornly. If you're seeking a brandy for sipping, look elsewhere. I'm not trying to be overly critical, though, as this mixes well and is quite affordable.

1889 Royal has a transparent, caramel hue. Its scent is reminiscent of white grape skins. The taste features sugar cream, distinct vanilla, and a subtle tannic quality. 1889 Royal has a light to medium body and a semi-sweet aftertaste.

Reid Mccoy 4.0

Upon closer examination, it's not the absolute best, contrary to what everyone in the neighborhood claimed. It's decent for a brandy, initially potent with a smooth finish, but ultimately just okay.

Millard Mccrary 3.8

It's a decent value for the cost. I would appreciate similar subtle vanilla notes in a rum or bourbon that has a bit more punch. However, at $9.99, I'll happily get a value brandy.

Alexus Pate 4.0

This rating is for serving it on the rocks. I never added anything to it.

Denzel Flanagan 5.0

Not bad, potent yet smooth, enjoyed by everyone around.
