About this bottle
Sasanokawa Shuzo, situated in Kōriyama, Fukushima prefecture, has a history of sake and shochu production dating back to 1765. They expanded into whisky production in 1946, and after acquiring Yamazakura Distillery in 1998, began releasing their premium offerings. This Pure Malt Japanese Whisky has been aged for approximately 20 years. It first matured in oak barrels for 15 years, then rested in tanks before being finished in oak barrels that previously held bourbon and wine. Only 2,400 bottles of this 43% ABV whisky were produced.
