Woodwinters Isle Solera 16 Year

I looked up who [brand name] were. They are a wine and whiskey vendor in Scotland, and this specific whiskey is a 16-year-old Bowmore. I had a feeling this would be a good one because the initial sip right after opening it, before adding water and letting it rest, was excellent. Given that it was cask strength and very palatable straight, and not oxidized, I knew it would be a success. I added the bottle to [website name] a short while ago, and someone else concurs. This is Bowmore done correctly. Great cask selection and beautiful spirit. Notes of caramel, salted raisins, festive fruits, smoked maple syrup, dark bitter chocolate... simply perfect, though a slight hint of sulfur is present, which adds character and a herbal aftertaste. Apart from my slight dislike of the sulfur and herbal aspect, I genuinely can't fault this one. I do appreciate the Bowmore characteristics; it's just that the spirit is frequently mishandled. It's apparently from a single Oloroso cask... my preferred sherry type. This is certainly among my top 10 for the year.
