Cody Burkholder 4.5

Nose - Caramel, fruity vanilla, cinnamon, orange zest, dried light-fleshed stone fruits, grape must. Taste - Fruity caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, light tannins, slight bitterness from stone fruit pits, fruity honey, dried light-fleshed stone fruits, flamed orange zest. Finish - Lingering honey/fruity sweetness, caramel, lightly bitter fruit, charred cinnamon. Score - 90/100 Final Thoughts - The influence of the Moscatel cask on their bourbon is quite nice. It adds a very pleasant fruity character and hints of dried light-fleshed stone fruits (apricot/white nectarine/white peach) throughout. The hints of sugared/flamed orange zest are quite nice, and I can see this making a fantastic Old Fashioned too. The tiny bit of fruity bitterness might be a sign of overextraction from the barrel, but otherwise, it's quite nice from start to finish. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Yes Would I buy a bottle? - Yes NOTE - All reviews are done without factoring in price.

Cameron Chappell 4.0

Heavy caramel aroma, sweet and syrupy. Maybe some subtle wine tannins too. Caramel is there on the tongue, but with some grape and citrus blended in perfectly. Lemon is more noticeable on the tail. Excellent balance, the proof and acidity might be a little intense together though. Tail comes off a little harsh, but still well done.

Sweet, but less intense than its alcohol content suggests
