Woodford Reserve Distillery Series Double Double Oaked 2022

Nose - Smoky campfire marshmallow but also quite fruity. Texture - Honestly, a bit of a letdown after just trying the very similar OF 117 Series XXO. But it holds its own, is full-bodied and slightly slick. Flavors - Sweet, spicy, and vibrant with more fruit notes. Cherry, blackberry, even some raspberry. It certainly has that Double Oak signature Werther’s Original caramel and butterscotch sweetness, and plenty of woody, oaky character. I'm just surprised by how many fruit notes manage to come through. Finish - All of those flavor notes persist to the end, but it's pleasantly and noticeably spicier than standard Double Oaked.

Quite different from the previous year's version. Unexpectedly, I detect notes of cherry Kool-Aid combined with floral elements and oak.
