Wow, the aroma is quite potent here. It smells much better than the Citron. It has a very sweet, syrupy raspberry smell, much like Chateau Monet, but much less rich. In fact, it's hard to smell when directly compared. It has a slight watery jello scent. The taste sadly disappoints with tart, watery fruitiness combined with some mushroom umami and rubber. It does remind me a bit of whiskey or tequila with the alcohol coming through. It's like a much inferior version of Cava De Oro Extra Anejo. It's less viscous and far less sweet than Chateau Monet, lacking all the rich complexity, prominent fruitiness, and nuttiness. It pales in comparison. And by "pales in comparison", I mean "is awful". Some of the more tart raspberry comes through right after tasting the Chateau Monet, but there's also some sweetness. It's still watery, but with a significant dose of mushroom umami. It's unusual, but this might work in a tequila cocktail. Since it tastes better than Veil Citron and can be mixed, it gets a few extra points. It's still disgusting, though. Yes, that mushroom brings out a lot of rubber, though perhaps there's some earthiness and light grain too? Unlike the Citron, I do enjoy this more with continued tasting. It becomes a bit interesting with a pleasant sweet raspberry note like La Croix on the finish. Cava De Oro Extra Añejo is much richer with more sweetness, but also with added dryness and spice characteristics mixed with some mintiness and a prominent woodiness. The Cava De Oro isn't amazing, but it's certainly much better. Upon a second tasting, this is much worse. The bitterness, metallic notes, and mushrooms become more apparent. The nose has a pleasant, sweet, raspberry scent mixed with a bit of rubber and metal. The palate has a raspberry flavor, for sure, but it's more like a raspberry seed flavor with mushroom characteristics and some metal and possibly rubber. It tastes as if it was aged in raw cherry wood for too long. It's pretty bad. I'm undecided between a 2 and a 3, but I believe the mushroom and rubber, along with enough bitterness and unpleasantness that don't belong, warrant a 2.

Pleasant fruity scents mingled with alcohol. Raspberry is present but so is artificiality. A smooth texture accompanies that fake note.
