Veil Cranberry Lime

This company has a reputation for creating odd flavored spirits, which is why I selected this particular flavor. It seemed like a straightforward concept. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The aroma alone is quite ridiculous, bringing to mind those strange blended drinks from years ago. I hadn't recalled that scent until now, and certainly never expected to encounter it while evaluating a flavored spirit. To its credit, the cranberry and lime are detectable in the nose, but they lack authenticity, neither natural nor artificial, but rather peculiar, almost effervescent. It's puzzling how that was achieved, while the rest of the bouquet is dusty spirit. A sweet dust, reminiscent of a carbonated beverage from a diner, is a truly unusual tasting note. The taste is also akin to those diner drinks. If you haven't experienced those, this comparison may not be helpful. It resembles concentrated corn syrup mixed with a soda that has been doused in a syrupy fruit flavoring. The spirit is barely perceptible on the finish. Primarily, it's an overwhelming sweetness. I'm actually surprised it's not carbonated, given the peculiar kick that suggests soda. Perhaps an acidic agent was added to mimic actual lime? Indeed, the flavor is not great. Its excessive sweetness makes it intensely cloying and undrinkable on its own. Online reviews suggest serving it over ice or with ginger beer. That might work, but why not use actual cranberry juice with spirit in your ginger beer? Or simply use syrups, because that's essentially what this is: elevated, spirit-infused cheap syrups.

Incredibly smooth. The other person rating this obviously didn't know what they were talking about. Add one small ice cube for every 1-2 oz, and it becomes a meal. Fantastic.
