Veil Citron Vodka

There is a clear lemon aroma, but it's also a bit off with spicy chamomile, sweetness, and bath soap, giving it a lemon soda quality. It's interesting. The taste is sweet with a bitterness that intensifies. There's also a candy-like sweetness that's almost sickening, but the bitterness dominates the finish. That bath soap taste really comes through. This is truly terrible - it's very hard to consume. I can't imagine ever wanting this. It's aggressively bad. Honestly, it's almost remarkable. That touch of sweetness is the only thing preventing it from being worse. It doesn't taste like lemon, though perhaps it has a hint of diluted lemon extract. Oh my goodness, this is awful. The more I drink, the worse it becomes. It definitely has a lime flavor, which it's supposed to, but the image only shows lemon, so the lime is confusing and unpleasant. It truly has that lemon-lime soda taste. The lemon-lime soda flavor keeps it from being the absolute worst, but it can't overcome the bath soap. Disgusting! Upon further tasting, this is somewhat improved. The key is that it's meant to taste like lemon-lime, and it does resemble a boozy Sprite. I now find this significantly better (still bad, though), and the Veil Raspberry is considerably worse. That mushroom umami in the raspberry is its downfall. It shouldn't be like that. It still tastes metallic and artificial with a hint of soap. The Veil Peach has a more pleasant sweetness that makes it more palatable. It smells like Sprite. It tastes like Sprite with added bitterness and alcohol. Aside from some rubber on the mid-palate and finish, it really tastes like Sprite with alcohol, but not as good. It's not very good, but after accepting that the flavor is supposed to be citron, not lemon as the label suggests, this tastes much better. I'll raise it to a 6. It might even be a 7.
