Tormore 10 Year Old 2015 (Cask 2100950) - Dràm Mòr

This 10-year-old Tormore is a new addition from Dràm Mòr, an independent bottler. This Speyside single malt was made in 2015 and then finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, resulting in 276 bottles. I realize many won't taste this since it's a single cask, and I feel fortunate to have sampled it and acquired a bottle at the Scottish national whisky festival in Glasgow last weekend. If you have the opportunity, pursue it, no matter the price (within sensible limits). Nose A prominent dry espresso aroma emerges from the glass. Dark chocolate is present, but not sweet. The aroma even carries a slightly savory, meaty quality. Palate A remarkably rich and profound palate. It possesses a silky smoothness with a syrupy fruitiness that isn't excessive. This is a truly intricate dram full of character, still retaining that subtle espresso note. Finish It has remarkable persistence. A genuinely delightful finish as the dried fruitiness subsides, leaving a perfect final impression. I thoroughly enjoyed this whisky; it ranks among the finest whiskies I have ever tasted. While I acknowledge that single casks may not perfectly represent a spirit, every Tormore expression I've tried has been outstanding. I believe they have been overlooked to some degree, a situation that may shift with the introduction of a core range around March 2026.
