I appreciate port wood finishing, though few new-make spirits or aged whiskeys interact well with port pipes; typically, the wine overpowers the flavor or the barrel imparts excessive spices to the finish, disrupting the whiskey's balance. However, this one is ideal, striking a perfect chord in sweetness, smoothness, and lightness, with subtle spices that fade gradually. It's truly remarkable, a standout from Speyside.

Nose: Light, featuring summer berries, oak, hairspray, acetone, and furniture polish. Palate: Tastes like children's candy, with notes of tannic red wine. Very sweet, with caramel, plum, cranberry, citrus, and butter flavors. Finish: A lively, peppery finish with lemon zest. Slightly fiery. Overall, it's summery, lively, and zesty. It has a very fresh taste. There's a slight sourness, but it's quite pleasant! #WWD

The aroma offers honey and dried fruit, leading into a taste of honey, candied fruit, and caramel/toffee with a port influence. The palate concludes with a caramel apple flavor and a juicy fruit gum finish. A top-tier dessert spirit.
