Tomatin 15 Year Moscatel Wine

I had the chance to sample this at a Tomatin tasting, and it was my preferred choice among the 12, 14, 18, and cask strength expressions. The influence of the Moscatel casks is definitely noticeable. The aroma isn't as sweet as wine, but it carries floral and nutty scents reminiscent of a glass of moscato. The palate is less harsh than the 12 and 14-year-old Tomatin options, and it's sweeter with notes of flowers, nuts, and dark chocolate. The sweetness begins to subside during the finish, with some spices appearing. This is a truly excellent scotch that I was fortunate to taste, as I likely wouldn't purchase it for the $100 per bottle price tag for this limited bottling.

Sampled this as part of a tasting alongside Glenfiddich Project XX, Strathill 25, Macallan Edition 2, Bruichladdich Black Art 5.1 1992 24 year, another expression, and Springbank 20 Rum Cask. It was rated second best of the evening, presenting a bright and vibrant flavor profile with notes of white and dark chocolate, cantaloupe, melon, oranges, vanilla, and tropical fruit.
