It's very spicy and quite harsh. Certainly not the expected scent for a traditional Irish dram. Taste: Noticeably young and intense. Thick and oily, as anticipated from a non-chill-filtered spirit, which is how they prepare everything at West Cork, to my knowledge. The flavor profile mirrors the aroma exactly: roasted peanuts, seeds, plus chocolate, fruits, and toffee. Indeed, spicy and harsh. Finish: Rather fiery and of moderate duration. Roasted peanuts and seeds linger briefly, propelled by the untamed young malt. Concluding thoughts: This isn't inherently a poor Irish whiskey, but approaching it requires an open mind. If you anticipate a conventionally smooth experience, prepare for a surprising performance!
