Glenlivet 2003 13 Year The Distillery Reserve Collection

As a Brand Ambassador for Pernod Ricard in Ecuador, I was honored to visit Linn House, the Chivas Regal Castle and its spiritual home. The hosts generously offered us some rare whiskies, including this collection available only at the distillery. These exclusive bottles represent Pernod Ricard's primary distilleries, one of which is the renowned and best-selling THE GLENLIVET. These Distillery Reserve Collection bottlings are predominantly single cask strength whiskies, delivering intense, powerful flavors in a highly enjoyable manner. The bottles are all 50cl and share a nearly identical label design across the expressions. Having the opportunity to sample these delightful whiskies is an experience not to be missed. Consequently, I indulged in quite a bit. This review pertains to The Glenlivet 13yo Distillery Reserve Collection, bottled at 61.9% ABV. Everything here is rich in aromas and flavor due to the high alcohol content, yet remarkably easy to discern and appreciate. This is a very skillfully crafted whisky. Nose: Chocolate, Apples, Almonds, Vanilla. It presents a very refined and sophisticated aroma. Allowing it to breathe reveals notes of figs and jam. Palate: The 61.9% ABV is not perceptible at all. Pineapple, Cinnamon, Toffee, Oranges, and aged figs. The flavors are clean. The aftertaste is an intense spice explosion. This is where the ABV of this dram truly makes itself known. Overall, this is a magnificent whisky. It encapsulates all the flavors found in various Glenlivet whiskies, but combined into one. It's like the true essence and heart of this distillery in a bottle. Very fruity and spicy, my rating for it is 89 out of 100.
