The Forager Botanical Whisky

So, I was really looking forward to trying this and bought a bottle almost 6 months ago. I'm still figuring out what to do with it. I'm a big fan of Forty Creek and own many of their limited releases, and I have nothing but great reviews for them. However, this is very disappointing. From a whiskey standpoint, it has very little flavor. From a botanicals standpoint, it has very little flavor. I would have preferred to see them commit to both aspects and make a strong case for botanical whiskey. I won't drink this neat. I've tried it with tonic, and gin is better. I've tried it in a Boulevardier/Negroni, and any other whiskey or gin is superior. I'll have to try it in an old-fashioned with some interesting bitters or something. Needless to say, I won't waste my bottle, but I won't buy another one.

A really nice whiskey for sipping in the summer. An ice cube really enhances it. It's very floral with lemon and honey flavors. You need to recognize that this is something entirely unique in the whiskey world. It's not flavored with additives, but rather infused with actual floral essences. It is what it is, and they executed it well. I'd be interested in seeing more like this.

It's standard Forty Creek with some added floral notes. If it cost only a couple of dollars more than the Barrel Select, it would be a decent value - but at $35, it can't compete in quality with similarly priced whiskies. It works fine as the recommended whiskey and tonic, but if I'm in the mood for that, I'll just get gin.

I anticipated more complexity based on the label's presentation (it's not complex at all), but it's still a pleasant drink. Smooth, enjoyable taste, with nothing significant to criticize at its price point. I wouldn't suggest it to more experienced whisky enthusiasts.

A bit thin, disappears quickly. The initial sip suggests a $25 whiskey, then it rapidly fades into a bland, characterless... something. Mix it, don't sip it.

The appealing branding and my enjoyment of gin made me think "botanicals" would be great. It was NOT what I expected.
