Given my known preferences for whisky, it's clear I cannot be entirely objective regarding any Talisker expressions, as this distillery, alongside Glendronach, is my all-time favorite. The signature maritime character of Talisker always appeals to me, and I had long desired to sample the Distillery Exclusive, Batch 01, bottled at 48% ABV, of which only 7500 bottles were produced. I finally visited a temple of whisky, the distillery itself, on the Isle of Skye, an incredibly beautiful location, where I participated in a tasting tour and, naturally, crossed a whisky from my bucket list. The nose isn't the best from this distillery, offering coconut, maize, saltiness, lemon, and hints of smoke, along with lemony spice and a slightly off vanilla. After an initial sip, I detected vanilla ice cream, fondant, and marzipan. The palate is superior, featuring vanilla ice cream, lemon, salt, pepper, and ginger, completing the classic Talisker profile. There's a very faint hay/sawdust note. A second sip also revealed some citrusy farm-like flavors. The aftertaste is simply perfect: a Smokey Monster, with notes of cigarettes and ashes, absolutely wonderful. Ultimately, the finish made this whisky unforgettable. Prior to the end, I was somewhat doubtful, as it was good, but not as superb as most Taliskers. Experiencing that incredibly rewarding conclusion elevated this single malt to a higher rating. My score for this legendary whisky is 90 out of 100.

Too spicy with little smoke or other flavors. Poor aroma.
The 2021 release. A truly enjoyable pour, purchased another bottle.
Very good but a little too sweet for my preference.
Salty, with a touch of peat. Gentle.
