About this bottle

The Distillers Edition is an annual limited offering from Diageo, featuring select single malt Scotch whisky distilleries from its portfolio. Each edition undergoes a secondary maturation (finishing) in a specific cask type. For this Talisker bottling, casks that held Amoroso sherry, a blend of oloroso and PX sherry, were utilized. Distilled in 2009, this expression was bottled in 2019 at 91.6 proof.

Dorian Holt 4.5

This particular Talisker edition is identical to the 10-year-old, apart from an additional few months aging in Oloroso sherry casks. It presents a clear, deep orange hue. Lightly smoky (estimated 15-20 ppm) with a very intricate aroma: subtle smoke, saddle leather, orange zest, cocoa powder, and a whisper of briny sea air. Remarkable equilibrium: the 45.8% ABV harmonizes a flavor profile that echoes the nose, concluding with white pepper. A lengthy finish that mellows into pure malt. Evokes autumn. I favor this over the standard Talisker 10, though the 18-year is tough to surpass. A top-tier scotch for me.

Dolly Monk 4.5

Very mellow. For those who enjoy peat, I'd recommend the 10-year, but if you seek a smooth, complex dram with a pronounced Talisker character and hints of sherry, this is it.

Dolores Gardiner 4.8

The aroma is a bit waxy, with a hint of orange zest. The body is dark and earthy, with peat and plums. It has a slightly salty taste with a hint of white peach. It's smooth with lots of sweetness and a touch of vanilla.

Shane Isaac 4.5

Aroma: sweet, smoky, cherry, leather Taste: Salty, smoky, sweet Finish: long, sweet and smoky

Jace Lowe 4.0

This is a solid offering from Talisker, though it's my least favorite of their bottles.
