Another 5-star rating for this Talisker! This particular expression is the distiller's edition from 1996, released in 2008, with its characteristic 45.8% ABV, and it truly stands out on its own. The color is an unbelievably deep copper. On the nose: Allow it to breathe for its full potential: sweet sherry, pepper, blackberry, herbal notes, and a medicinal quality. A pleasant aroma that begins sweet and transitions to peaty. It also has notes of maraschino cherry syrup and bacon. On the palate: Gentle peat, sherry, and cinnamon spice, with hints of ash and salt. It's incredibly smooth and delicious. The aftertaste is intensely mouth-numbing, like an atomic ginger bomb, with salt and sherry sweetness. An amazing experience. Overall, this dram scores a 96 out of 100; Talisker has triumphed again.
