Subtle Spirits Straight Rye Whiskey Vol 2

A remarkable bottle. This particular barrel selection, bottle 82 out of 144, aged 12 years at 62.7% abv. I had the good fortune to compare it directly with the current 2024 High West MWND release, and this barrel pick surpasses it. It is wonderfully viscous and rich. As expected, it carries the Rye spice, but also possesses the dark richness that comes with a 12-year age statement. The finish is lengthy, warm, and delightful. I am eagerly anticipating sharing this bottle with loved ones this winter. Grateful for the recommendation from a friend!

KCWS pick: Outstanding, with an exceptionally long finish. Slightly dry and brief finish, but that's a minor critique (4.75/5). MNWE pick: Too much rye character for my preference (dill, mint, spice), but I'm sure it's excellent if that suits your taste (4.25/5). El Cerrito Liquor pick: 4.5/5.
