Stork Club Whiskey Sour

July 2024 - Friedrichstadt palace - Berlin Pale gold color Nose with a hint of alcohol, touches of honey and spice First sip is very clear like water, refreshing and effervescent, like a gentle fine rain that cools a warm summer night. The second sip is powerfully honeyed, a smooth sweetness floods the mouth before chili and spices storm the palate on the third sip. Like a Mongol cavalry charge ending a Chinese dynasty that had dozed off in an overly sweet haze. Has backbone at the finish. Leaves a thin film of chili in the aftertaste. A whisky for a woman who likes to be surprised by an unexpected charge of riders from the steppes of Kublai Khan. Enjoyed at the Friedrichstadt palace in Berlin, while waiting for the Jean Paul Gaultier show to begin. Like a trumpet announcing the charge of the Valkyries, this whisky heralds the avalanche of stimuli about to assault my senses...

Excessively sweet and cloying to my liking. It's a standard combination of rye, lemon, and sugar. Best served chilled, perhaps on ice.
