Stagg Barrel Proof Batch 24 A

Aroma: chocolate, dark cherry, grape, cherry Dr Pepper, coffee cake Taste: spice, grape, cola, cherry, light pepper, hot tomale candy, with a long finish on the tongue. The aroma is great and carries over well to the taste. The grape and dark fruit flavors are prominent. It's very balanced. It has heat but isn't overwhelming. It lingers on the tongue for an extended finish. It's hard to find fault with it.

Among the best bourbon I've ever had. If I could acquire this at the suggested retail price, I would exclusively drink this. $130 is between secondary market and suggested retail, so I'm not too upset. It's quite potent but astonishingly oily, coating the mouth. Not too heavy, with the perfect amount of dark fruits and butterscotch. Absolutely fantastic.

There's no such thing as a bad batch of Stagg, only varying degrees of excellence. This particular one stands out because grape soda is the dominant note. It's very good, but not quite as exceptional as some others.

Not hot at all, with a buttery and thin initial feel. The post-spice and bite are to preference. This is a pleasant sipper, not mind-blowing but good quality spirit with fruit on the finish.

The nose is dense with nutty syrup. There is less heat than expected, followed by astringent oak and spice. It tastes of peanut brittle, with a drying, lingering warmth.
