Springbank Single Cask 11 Year Sauternes

Aroma: Savory, salty wine, and brine. This is the most savory Springbank I have ever smelled, by a significant margin. Taste: Intense heat. It has that characteristic Springbank smoky peat, a sugar cookie finish, and then the Sauternes must be contributing those saltier, savory notes or bringing them out, along with a very rich sweetness. The sweetness and savoriness are genuinely enjoyable but mask any deeper complexity. The finish is medium in length, hot, and sweet. I'm tasting from a sample and would happily purchase a bottle for $150 or less.

Rich with tropical, honeyed, and dark fruit notes. Nose: Dried grapes, honey, white chocolate, smoke, iodine, lychee, papaya, pineapple, figs, banana, orange, cherry, vanilla, lavender, sunflowers Palate: Dried grapes, walnuts, figs, oranges, dates, cherries, plums, dark chocolate, Seville oranges, dried grapes, toffee, salted caramel Finish: Dried grapes, honey, oranges, figs, almonds, walnuts, grapefruit, mangoes

Comparable to the 10-year, but with a higher alcohol level and a bit of sweetness toward the end of the palate. Update: It is indeed cask strength, which explains the intensity. It tasted like cask strength Springbank 10, but with more subdued sweetness and fruitiness.

Robust, full-bodied, sweet, and distinctly oaky. It might possess a hint of the characteristic machine oil quality, but it's subtle. This is certainly a potent and viscous premium whisky. The aroma is sweet and herbaceous, with aged wood notes.
