Color: Goldenrod. Aroma: Smoldering firewood embers after a cold rain. Underneath the smoke, there is iodine and potent citrus blossoms. Vanilla and a savory, salty brine emerge. Palate: An astringent, chemical sensation at first gives way to warmer, sweeter notes of pork fat and caramel glaze. Vanilla is still present, though less pronounced, overwhelmed by saline bandages and pale wisps of charcoal smoke. Finish: Lingering sticky tar, along with the sensation of bitter seaweed. Brackish ocean water with a touch of tannic vegetation. With added water: Significantly more vanilla in the aroma, but still reminiscent of salty sea air. The palate and finish became somewhat shorter and sweeter, with honeycomb and butterscotch appearing instead of the initial harsher notes.
