Another young, high-rye bourbon from Indiana is featured tonight. It was distilled in Indiana and then aged and bottled in Las Vegas. The label indicates barrels were chosen from the top two warehouse floors (not a rickhouse) to produce a bourbon with a smooth and rich flavor that surpasses its age. It has a medium to dark honey color with quickly forming legs. This one presents a rich, complex aroma of buttered caramel corn against a fruity backdrop. It's nicely sweet with hints of honey and brown sugar. Despite being 92.5 proof, there's only a faint hint of alcohol in the nose. The palate suggests it's bourbon, but it's a rather basic blend of flavors. It's not bad at all, but it's difficult to discern individual notes. The mouthfeel is thin, and the finish is almost nonexistent. It drinks more like an 80 proof product. Earlier this year, I sampled three different versions of the uncut, unfiltered expression. Those were exceptional. This one shares similarities with those on the nose, and I do enjoy nosing my bourbon. However, it falls short on the palate, leading me to believe that the distillery should maintain a proof of 100 or higher for their products.

I didn't realize I hadn't opened this bottle. It's never too late! Tried neat. Smells sweet & grainy with notes of caramel, spice, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, wheat, caramel apple, and corn. On the palate, it's spicy with lots of cinnamon, clove, and wheat. I'm not entirely sure which year this is, as the label isn't informative. Most likely 2021 or 2022.

Sugary notes of corn and marshmallow dominate, with a subtle berry undertone reminiscent of strawberry or raspberry. Taste presents typical bourbon characteristics like vanilla, oak, and caramel, all in moderation. A touch of brown sugar is also present. The finish is brief but leaves the palate coated with notes of red licorice and subtle almond.

Initial sip neat. Deep color, spicy aroma. Fruit with spice, vanilla notes. It's smooth but has a slight kick. Excellent for sipping. Second sip with a small ice sphere. The ice softens it, highlighting the vanilla and caramel. I enjoy this bourbon either way. It depends on your mood. And considering the cost, it's a great value.

Nose: Subtle, notes of tobacco and almond. Body: Prominent corn!, almond, tobacco, moderately sweet, dry. Finish: Brief, with a pleasant spice kick that doesn't linger. Corn notes remain. Coats the mouth with a hint of butterscotch. It's an affordable, easy-drinking spirit with enough character to be above average. The price point makes it a good value!
