It's truly remarkable what TBWC achieves with their bottlings. I've encountered numerous official distillery releases that were quite disappointing, yet when TBWC gets involved, they become vastly superior. I assumed they employed a special finishing technique, but that's not the case. They seem to have a brilliant scout who handpicks excellent casks from various distilleries. It baffles me why some distilleries produce such high-quality spirit only to mishandle it upon release. Are they prioritizing quantity by blending subpar product with good? Or is there some other reason? It's a genuine puzzle. In two years, I must remember to inquire with the TBWC team at Dramfest. Regarding the spirit itself, it's not exceptional, especially considering the HP, which, despite having great distillate, they ruined. However, TBWC elevates it to a respectable level. It's a biscuity, honeyed, viscous dram, typical of TBWC's style. In this particular cask, the distillate, rather than the wood, is somewhat lacking.

Considering it's a cask strength whisky at only 3 years old, this is pretty remarkable. Perhaps Bavaria's climate is less consistent than Scotland's, but there's definitely a lot of flavor from the Bourbon casks here. Caramel, light fruit, quite sweet, and not overpowering.
