I'd never tried a Bunnahabhain before because I'd heard they don't use peat. Turns out that's not true! This is interesting; the brine and anise notes come and go, and the smoke doesn't appear until later, but it is present. Less wood influence than I'd like, but very crisp. Lots of small hints of other flavors that are quite interesting, if a little unfocused. Fun to try, makes me want to explore what else Bunnahabhain offers.

Very light cereal notes appear, followed by hints of vanilla, then light oak and strong barn hay. The finish is medium to long with vanilla and a dry, earthy peat. It's comparable to Ardbeg Ten, but this one feels smoother and more refined, with much more vanilla than Ardbeg typically offers. I definitely suggest trying it, especially for the price!
