As you can see in the photo, my glass is different. That's because I don't possess a Michter's glass, nor do I favor their products. A friend with tastes similar to mine suggested this, perhaps as their version of a Michter's product for me. The aroma presents green grapes, lemon, and melon, with a faint hint of brine and must. The body offers apricot, sugar, and chocolate. The finish includes buttered popcorn? Seriously? And also flowers and coffee. Huh. I wasn't fond of this initially; in fact, I was quite disappointed and a little miffed by the price. It grew on me over time, though. I do believe this is my favorite Michter's product so far, but it's still not quite for me.

About this bottle
This 2023 limited edition from the Legacy Series honors John Shenk, the 1753 founder of what would become Michter's Distillery in the 20th century. Shenk's Homestead is a Kentucky sour mash style whiskey. The mash bill features a high percentage of rye, with some malted rye included. Maturation utilizes two barrel profiles: one aged in wood dried naturally for 18 months then seasoned and toasted, and the other aged in French oak from the Vosges region air-dried for 24 months. It is bottled in limited quantities as of 2023 at 91.2 proof.

A bit harsh and less robust than I anticipated. Not really my preference.
Consistently a solid choice. Features a pleasant long finish, an excellent aroma, and great flavors.
Lightly sweet with a slightly bitter/sour finish.
Pleasant taste, but very thin in consistency.
A top-tier favorite, always.
