Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey

A very sweet aroma of caramel and peanut butter comes through, reminiscent of fake chocolate with peanut candy bars. The taste follows suit, offering sweetness with a touch of spicy cinnamon. A buttery note, similar to movie theater popcorn, is present alongside peanut butter and an unexpected floral quality. It's not unpleasant, but definitely peculiar. I'm uncertain of its ideal use, but as an intriguing liqueur, it's surprisingly decent. However, don't anticipate a strong peanut butter essence; that's not its primary characteristic. While a score of 12 seems too high, it's enjoyable and palatable, placing it above a 9. Deciding between this, another peanut liqueur, and a different peanut butter spirit was challenging, but ultimately, this one takes the victory. It doesn't strongly evoke peanut butter, yet its flavor is acceptable. It feels like a competition where a dish that resembled a specific cuisine more closely lost to one that was simply edible, a strange situation for this category. While an interesting experience, I don't see myself revisiting it, apart from finishing the remaining small bottles.

Flavor: Corn syrup, a faint hint of mild chili, something reminiscent of peanuts but not quite right, and a rough alcohol character. Finish: Medium in length, simultaneously sweet and slightly bitter, fading to a corn syrup aftertaste. This product is not whiskey, nor even a flavored whiskey. It contains a substantial amount of sugar and is more appropriately classified as a liqueur. While it likely contains whiskey, it's important to remember that American whiskey has no minimum aging requirement, so the spirit in this might be akin to new-make. Regarding its profile, it smells slightly more like peanut butter than it tastes, which is not a strong endorsement. Neither the aroma nor the flavor is particularly memorable or enjoyable. Overall, it gave the impression of suggesting peanut butter rather than genuinely delivering that scent and taste. I would prefer to launch this at parties, ideally using a projectile weapon. To begin, I'm not a fan of flavored whiskey! This was purchased for my wife, and I ended up sampling it. That being said... Nose: A dominant reek of synthetic peanut butter and low-quality American whiskey. Taste: Extremely saccharine, like high fructose corn syrup. It strikes strongly with artificial butterscotch and peanut butter notes, with little else. Finish: Once more, excessive sweetness with a persistent artificial peanut butter taste that leaves an unpleasant film in the mouth. Overall, this whiskey did not appeal to me. I repeat, I have a predisposition. However, I can understand the intention behind it. It aims to mask the alcohol's harshness and flavor. It's obviously intended for social gatherings and as a component in mixed drinks.

Worst thing I've ever tasted, no question. The peanut butter aroma was overpowering and off-putting, like walking into a Yankee Candle store. The whiskey has a thick, syrupy consistency. Its peanut butter flavor is like fake maple syrup. The ending is bitter and ruins any good qualities it might possess. Adding water made no difference. It was a complete waste of a free drink.

This is quite good. It has decent complexity, offering interesting floral and buttery notes. There's a bit too much alcohol flavor, but it's not overwhelming. It's somewhat peppery but mostly smooth. I don't absolutely love it, and it doesn't truly taste like peanut butter, but I do get a peanut butter sensation and it tastes acceptable enough that I don't mind drinking it. It would be my top choice among the peanut butter whiskeys I've sampled so far.

Compared blindly with two other peanut butter whiskeys. Smelled of butterscotch, tasted thick and syrupy like caramel, with absolutely no peanut butter character. It was offensively sweet, tasting like neither whiskey nor peanut butter, just a complete failure.
