This is technically not a whiskey, but rather a Rum. It's owned by United Spirits (Diageo India). The term IMFL isn't an official Indian Whisky designation, as stated in the description. It's a categorization used by the excise department for spirits not of Indian origin, encompassing Whisky, Rum, or Vodka.

About this bottle
First available in India in the 1980s, Royal Challenge Whisky, also known as RC, is a popular brand in a country that consumes three times the amount of whisky as the US. The blend contains approximately 12% Scotch whiskies combined with Indian-made malt. The remainder consists of a molasses-based neutral grain spirit. Consequently, it is essentially a rum flavored and marketed as a whisky, a common method for producing "Indian Made Foreign Liquor" (the official classification for Indian whisky). This spirit is bottled at 42.8% ABV.

It's one of the more affordable options available, tastes decent, and holds its own against other blended Scotch selections.
It performs adequately and doesn't fall into the 'cheap' or commonly known whiskey category in western and modern countries.
An affordable and acceptable drink with a hard-to-pinpoint sweetness. I won't be rushing to purchase it again.
