About this bottle

In November 2019, Irish Distillers launched four small-batch, cask-strength bottlings under the Redbreast Single Pot Still brand. Each of these four batches was matured for 14 years, though this is not indicated on the bottle, in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks with varying barrel compositions for each batch. Batch B is bottled at 57.2% ABV. Its distribution is limited to San Diego, San Francisco, and Boston, with only 252 bottles available per batch.

I heard the 27-year version is outstanding, which prompted me to try this. I'm relieved I obtained a sample rather than purchasing a full bottle. It tastes like something between a Scotch whisky and a bourbon around 90 proof. It lacks significant flavor and complexity. The heat is more pronounced than the taste.

Ryann Early 4.3

12-year-old batch B2/19. ABV 55.8% Cask Strength. Tasted in a rocks glass with a little filtered water. Very smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel, caramel, dark fruit, a hint of citrus, light toffee. This is a great whiskey.

Tommy Decker 4.8

Batch B2/19 111.6 proof - Buttery smooth on the nose and a hint of sweet fruit on first taste with subtle spice on the finish - started neat and added a drop of water to continue but really enjoying this RB

Stacey Swartz 4.0

Very tannic, possibly too much sherry influence, it almost masks the charm of Redbreast. Notes of red fruits, hints of Christmas cake, dark chocolate, and coffee.

Brittney Holliday

Nose: candy, syrup, grains Taste: mint, spearmint/wintergreen, velvet but causes tongue numbness Finish: long, creamy, lasting, hot, tart

Catharine Levine 4.0

Aroma: Peaches and cream, Vanilla Taste: Shortbread, intensely vanilla, with subtle oak notes Finish: Sherried dark fruits, oak spice
