A fiery sensation on the tongue is accompanied by robust notes of dark, desiccated fruit. The characteristic shortbread essence often associated with Midleton was absent. It's not a terrible pour, but considering the cost, it doesn't quite measure up to its relatives.

I'm a fan of the 12-year-old, and while I've encountered a cask strength version with more heat, this one remains beautiful.
