Barrel No. K45-061, 121.50 proof, aged 7 years and 1 month, distilled 2-21-2018, bottled 3-2025, with a mash bill of 51% corn, 45% rye, 4% malt. Served neat and with a few drops of water. Nose: Wonderful aroma of cherries, red apples, caramel, and sweet oak. Palate: The mouthfeel is immediately distinct – thick and substantial. I detect notes of cinnamon-dusted caramel. Neat, the fruit notes were absent from the palate, and it felt somewhat restrained. Adding a couple of drops of water revealed the cherry and red apple skin notes. Finish: Medium in length. Without water, there was considerable oak and cinnamon. With water, the cherries and red apples carried through to the finish, which also became sweeter and brighter. Should you buy it? Absolutely. Would you buy it again? This is my first bottle from Rare Character, and it was completely worth it. I might purchase another before it sells out. Regardless, I am looking forward to trying more of their offerings.
