An potent, 14-year-old peated single malt Scotch whisky from Islay's Bruichladdich distillery, released under the Port Charlotte label. Created in 2002, it aged in a single bourbon barrel and was bottled in 2016 without chill-filtration or added coloring. It has an engaging aroma with notes of banana fritters, salted butter, ham, peaty smoke, fresh orange, and the smell of rain on dry earth; a robust character introduces flavors of vanilla cake, dry soil, a faint hint of ash, and slightly tropical notes, with a drop of water revealing melon and rum-like spice; it concludes with a long and balanced finish featuring notes of smoky bacon crisps, thyme honey, and a touch of hay.
