I'm not much of a gambler, mainly because I rarely and poorly bet on horses. However, I'd wager my house that this whiskey is Caol Ila. It's pleasant, agreeable, and nice, but not particularly exciting. It offers a mild Caol Ila peat profile with vanilla notes. If you're familiar with the 12-year-old, you'll understand. For me, it's very similar to many bourbon-casked Caol Ilas, though some are certainly better than others. At $100, I rate this a 3.5. I would opt for the 18-year-old Caol Ila for a bit more money but significantly better quality.
