Penny Franco 4.0

For the holidays this year, I plan to sample a new whiskey daily throughout December. Goals. Dec. 1: This is the final of the questionable 50 mL "whiskeys" from 2017 & 2018, just in time for 2019. The aroma is truly delightful, like pecan pie with a strong emphasis on the nutty flavor. Not much else stands out. I detect a faint hint of that unpleasant artificial cherry taste found in similar products, but I can't be sure if I'm just expecting it. The body delivers a thick, syrupy sweetness on the palate. There's that artificial cherry flavor and the nutty taste. I don't dislike it as much as I might have thought. The syrupy quality that often detracts from liqueurs works well with the nutty notes here. Your mouth anticipates that rich, thick texture, and this drink provides it. Nice. The finish is spicy with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. The warmth lingers a bit longer than expected for a Canadian whisky, but it's a pleasant sensation that complements the flavors. I'm unsure how to summarize this. "This is good." "I like it." "I feel slightly less self-respecting than when I woke up this morning." 'Tis the season. I'm uncertain if I have 30 more new whiskeys lined up, so if you're reading this and have a readily available spirit you'd like me to savor or endure this holiday season, please suggest it in the comments.
