About this bottle

Introduced in March 2024, Peerless Toasted Bourbon first matures in standard char #3 barrels. It then undergoes a secondary finishing period in medium-toasted barrels. Consistent with the brand's other spirits, this bourbon is produced using a sweet mash process instead of the conventional sour mash method. It is bottled at barrel proof and is not chill-filtered.

Amira Dow 3.8

It has a pleasing dark amber hue, but the legs in the glass are not very prominent. The aroma offers new tanned leather, sweet cooked cherries, prunes, subtle smoky wood, and hay from a barn. The initial sip leaned towards bitter, but after letting the glass air out, the aromas from the nose emerged. Oak and cherries are the dominant flavors. The finish becomes dark, not quite chocolatey, but certainly bittersweet. There's a hint of black pepper, but it's not intense. Adding ice softens the flavors, bringing out fruit and sweetness, like candied apple. It's a nice whiskey, though I'm uncertain if it justifies the price tag, as Peerless tends to be on the expensive side.
