Nose: A sweet, indistinct fruity aroma that, influenced by suggestion, faintly hints at passionfruit. Palate: Overwhelmingly sweet, both from the sugar content of this liqueur and the inherent sweetness of the fruit flavoring. It possesses a chemical taste, seeming more like a laboratory creation than an actual fruit. Finish: Unpleasantly lingering. The persistent, cloying sweetness of the artificial flavoring mars the palate. It seems numerous Parrot Bay bottlings exist globally. This review pertains specifically to a passionfruit-flavored "malt beverage" available in Australia (and possibly elsewhere). This is not Parrot Bay flavored rum; it resembles a blend of flavored vodka and moonshine. It is excessively sweet, low in proof, and correctly categorized as a liqueur, not a spirit. This is by far the least palatable of the four Parrot Bay... concoctions... I have just endured. For further information on this line of Parrot Bay liqueurs, which capitalize on the reputation (?) of Parrot Bay rum, consult my review of Parrot Bay Coconut. "Wretched": 50/100 (0.25 stars)
