Parker's Heritage 10 Year Cognac Barrel Finished Bourbon

COLOR - deep for its age, tinted with mahogany or pecan and transparent. NOSE - dark syrup, red cherries, and crystallized citrus rind; intense cognac aroma despite the 4 months aging Parker Beam claimed (versus the 6 months shown on the label); resembles a dessert wine more than a bourbon, generally quite enjoyable. TASTE - once the sweet aroma is surpassed and it’s swirled on the tongue, it reverts to its origins; the cognac remains but it presents as whiskey – pronounced smoke, scotch-like; fiery but notably not sweet or cinnamon-spiced; pronounced oak and rye. FINISH - gradual, persistent finish; not rough but not exceptionally smooth; mild cinnamon warmth and cooked plums. Following this, the glass exudes the scent of dark chocolate-draped, desiccated cherries. OVERALL - this is an uncommon offering and will undoubtedly be appreciated or even cherished by most whiskey drinkers. For the dedicated bourbon aficionado, this is not a purchase I would suggest – its cognac character is too dominant, and superior "bourbon" opportunities exist. Nevertheless, I encourage sampling it if the opportunity arises, as it is an intricate and skillfully crafted spirit.

Excellent Parker's Heritage with a great cognac integration. Nose: Vanilla, Marshmallows, Rancio, Sultanas, White Chocolate, Coconuts, Banana Syrup, Lavender, Cotton Candy, Raisins, Tootsie Rolls, Flamed Oranges Palate: Pepper, Root Beer, White Chocolate, Vanilla, Cherry Cola, Nutmeg, Dark Chocolate, Pepper, Tobacco, Molasses Finish: Vanilla, Cherry Cola, Raisins, Dark Chocolate, Aged Oak, Leather

Initial Impression Summary: The aroma, taste, and finish all seemed muddled, resulting in a disjointed, unbalanced, and poorly integrated experience. Possibly affected by a rushed tasting at the end of the evening. Surprisingly, it was the least preferred of the night.

Not as good as PHC 6, but still fantastic. The smoothest whiskey I've ever encountered.
