When mixed with fresh pineapple and orange juice, plus a hint of lemon, it makes an excellent base for a tropical punch. On its own, it's a bit underwhelming, but this is forgivable given its price point.

About this bottle
A blend of column-still rums from Florida, Central America, and the Caribbean, Papa's Pilar Blonde Rum incorporates spirits aged between three and seven years. These rums were Solera-aged in used bourbon and port barrels before being blended and finished in Spanish sherry casks. Its distinctive canteen-shaped bottle is a tribute to Ernest "Papa" Hemingway's experiences as an ambulance driver in World War I and his reporting from Normandy in World War II.

A bit overly sweet, definitely has a fruity character. It didn't work well in a standard daiquiri; the lime made it too intense. It has its uses, but I haven't found its perfect application yet.
Initially, it's quite astringent and alcoholic, then it finishes with a subtle tropical fruit and floral taste. Beyond the strong initial alcohol sensation, it's quite enjoyable.
Appearance: Pale Gold Nose: Sweetened Baked Goods, Marzipan Palate: Lemon Zest, Caramel, Nutty undertones, hint of dryness on the tail
Still quite sweet, but less so than the dark rum variety. Better suited for mixed drinks. Not recommended for sipping straight.
It has a taste like buttered cinnamon toast and is very smooth.
