Renae Day 3.0

Nose: Cooked apples, cinnamon, cereal. A fermentation note seems to conflict with the fresh fruit aroma. Palate: Initially sweet, fruity, and heavily flavored with apple syrup, followed by a pleasant spicy note of both sweet and hot cinnamon. The texture is sweet and full. Finish: Short. Apple and cinnamon. After the rather unremarkable “White Lightnin’” moonshine from Ole Smoky I just sampled, I had low expectations for this, but I was pleasantly surprised. It delivers exactly what the label suggests – apple moonshine. Abundant apple aromas and flavors, copious amounts of cinnamon, and a hint of cereal in the background. It's sweet and quite enjoyable. The only peculiarity was on the nose, where I detected an unusual aroma, as if an apple pie had been left out too long in a hot room and begun to spoil. However, overall, I found this surprisingly agreeable, and far better than many other flavored spirits I've encountered. It's difficult to categorize. You could label it a flavored unaged spirit (or simply moonshine), but given the low proof and evidently very high sugar content, I would actually classify it as a liqueur. Tasted from a 50ml official sampler. In a moment of impulsivity, I might even purchase some of this someday, or explore other Ole Smoky flavored variants. “Above Average”: 80/100 (3 stars)

Rogelio Saldana 3.5

A delicate, Moonshine from Ole Smoky Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, bottled at 35% ABV. It begins aromatically with notes of warm apple pie; its fruity character leads to a well-balanced finish of medium length. October 2023

Tastes like apple pie. Very smooth to drink. Can be enjoyed neat or with ice. A good mixer with traditional iced tea. Definitely should be shared with friends.

Edmond Dewitt 5.0

The best available legal apple pie flavored spirit, by a wide margin! The app is also incorrect; it is 35% ABV, not 20%.

Logan Byrd 2.8

Enjoyable apple spices, not very spicy but quite sugary. Sneaky and dangerous.

Kristal Noel 3.0

It's drinkable, but the apple pie flavor isn't the best. It has the potential to be much better.
